What led you to start @Sshepaints?

I was looking for a way to connect to people during covid. I started painting people drinking aperols and sent them to my friends to tell them I missed them. Then I started selling them for people to send each other - when we were all craving connection.

Where is your inspiration drawn from?

The everyday I'd say, a morning cup of tea, the mundane details of life. I sometimes joke with my friends after we say something that could be on a sshepaints painting.

What has been your most recent realisation that has altered your thinking towards your practise?

Imposters syndrome is real, and has been on my mind recently. I've had to remind myself to stop comparing my process to others or being the most 'professional' artist. Having the perfect studio and getting it right all the time. Life isn't like that and everyone does things differently. I need to remember to stick to what comes naturally to me. The chaos is what keeps life interesting!

What qualities do you consider when purchasing clothing?

Touch, always. I'm touching the clothes before I even look at them. How soft is the material, does it feel well made. Will it last?

When dressing in the morning what elements do you consider for your look?

Comfort is alway number 1 whatever season, I have to feel comfortable in it. Unfortunately that does cut out quite a lot of looks for my daytime dressing. So my outfits are always baggy, loose, and oversized. I save the tight, complicated outfits for the evening if ever! Oh and also always a hat!
